The Field-to-Ledger Framework
A design that connects what is happening on the land to the sourcing, formulation and paperwork decisions made downstream of it.
The situation it's designed for
A sourcing lead knows a growing region is having a hard season. The formulation team learns about it when a shipment specification fails. Procurement learns about it when the price moves. The land knew first, and the knowledge took four weeks to arrive anywhere useful.
Meanwhile the compliance side of the same company now has to prove where an ingredient came from, at parcel level, with dates.
This framework designs the path from field conditions to the decisions taken downstream — and treats the proof-of-origin paperwork as a by-product of that path rather than a separate project.
What it hands your team
- A design linking growing conditions on specific parcels to the sourcing decisions those parcels feed.
- An early-warning design for the teams that currently find out last: formulation, procurement, quality.
- An origin record assembled as sourcing happens, at the resolution your buyers and regulators are asking for.
- A supplier-facing design that does not depend on every grower adopting new software.
What stays a human decision
- Supplier relationships, and any conversation about a failing season.
- Formulation and specification changes.
- What gets certified, and what gets signed.
What it's not for
- Agronomic advice to growers. We design information paths, not crop recommendations.
- Supply chains where you have no visibility past a trader. The design needs a first-mile connection; sometimes the honest finding is that you do not have one yet.
- Replacing a food-safety programme. It can feed one.
